'Stopping statins after MI ups death risk'

 

Stopping statin use after a heart attack could increase the risk of death, say Canadian researchers.

The study suggests up to 30 per cent of statin treatment is discontinued within a year in clinical practice.

A meta-analysis of 9,939 heart attack survivors found statins users that stopped had a considerably higher morbidity than even non-users.
