Dr Georgina Brown from Greater Glasgow and Clyde LMC told the Scottish LMCs conference in Clydebank last week that one in 10 UK doctors have been physically attacked in the last year.
Yet the amount of money provided by the government for extended hours was tiny, she said.
‘It's our responsibility to protect ourselves and our patients but, at £2.95 per patient, how do we do that?'
GPC Scotland chairman Dr Dean Marshall said that the risk of attack facing GPs, staff and patients was high.
‘This is going to happen. It's just a matter of time,' he said.
