Rural GPs call for stability in Wales

The uncertainty in rural general practice in Wales and the need for a period of stability was the main talking point at the annual Rural Doctors Conference in Mid Wales.
Dr Huw Evans, one of the organisers, said: ‘The goalposts and targets seem to be constantly moving under the reorganisation of the structure of the NHS and we are having to keep reorganising our systems.
‘Morale in the profession has definitely suffered in the last year, which is not good news for recruitment.’
A total of 150 GPs, practice nurses and practice managers from across the UK took part in the event last week in Gregynog, near Newtown, Wales.
