The BMA is investigating possible reasons for practice income reductions which could total up to £1,750.

Healthcare Republic reported in November that an administrative blunder had stripped thousands of pounds from payments to all MPIG practices across the UK.

Richard Armstrong, head of primary medical care at the DoH, wrote to the BMA explaining that a small number of practices in London received slightly reduced amounts due to the London weighting amount of £2.18 not being properly taken into account in the initial release of Exeter software which was intended to effect the changes to the Statement of Financial Entitlement.

However, this explanation does not cover practices outside London and the BMA’s Health Policy and Economic Research Unit is investigating possible reasons for these reductions.
