The film, being launched at Manchester Museum on 30 July, covers how to
register with a GP, making appointments, interpreters, repeat
prescriptions and other issues.
Dr Pip Fisher, who works in a practice for socially excluded groups and
helps asylum seeker and refugee health professionals requalify to work
in the UK, got students to provide voiceovers in eight languages.
'I wanted to make the film because health staff and patients get
frustrated when expectations of how the system works collide,' Dr Fisher
said.
The film, part-funded by the Black Health Agency will be available on
DVD and at www.blackhealth agency.org.uk.
