Online self care resource launched for health professionals

30-Nov-07

GPs and nurses have been invited to use a website launched this week by a DoH arms-length agency to offer practical resources and information about self care.

The NHS Working in Partnership Programme (WiPP) has called it the ‘world’s first interactive, online self care resource and networking organisation’.

The scheme is backed by secretary of state for health Alan Johnson.

‘In light of the recent dire warnings of unchecked obesity and other health issues, raising the profile of self care and making better health accessible to everyone in the community has never been more important.  Self Care Connect will play a vital role in helping address health inequality,’ he said.

Helena Jordan, who leads on WiPP’s Self Care for Primary Care work explains, “Self Care Connect will do much more than support long term conditions. It’s about encouraging professionals to support a holistic approach to health and wellbeing.’
