Letter: Hit government where it hurts - in the ballot box

15-Feb-08

I suggest we identify the 50 or 60 most marginal Labour MPs and their seats and put up a GP in opposition in every seat.

We will have a single agenda - high-quality primary healthcare. We may not win many seats but we will soak up 2,000-3,000 votes in each constituency which will guarantee Labour defeat.

The costs would not be prohibitive and, if the GPC was on board it would certainly sharpen its tools for negotiation.

I have no problem working longer, more difficult hours provided they are fairly paid for.

Dr Steve Mann, Stourbridge, West Midlands.
