DoH stop smoking guide available for pharmacists

21-Aug-07

The Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC) is encouraging visitors to its website to read a DoH guide for pharmacists to provide effective stop smoking advice in line with recently issued NICE guidance on smoking cessation.

The guidance follows the introduction of legislation to render virtually all workplaces and enclosed public places in England smoke free in July 2007.

The DoH is seeking to maximise the contribution that pharmacies can make to help people who want to stop.

It is intended primarily for use by community pharmacy staff but is also appropriate for hospital or primary care pharmacists.
