New drug - Thymoglobuline

29-Jul-08

Thymoglobuline is an immunosuppressant for the prophylaxis of graft rejection in renal or heart transplantation and the treatment of steroid resistant graft rejection in renal transplantation.

Thymoglobuline is a polyclonal antibody that causes peripheral and central depletion of lymphocytes.

This depletion is thought to be the primary mechanism of immunosuppression and peripheral lymphocyte depletion can be detected as early as 24 hours after the first infusion.

Thymoglobuline should be used under strict medical supervision and prescribed by physicians with experience in using immunosuppressive agents.
