Mercury exposure does not cause autism
Exposure to mercury preservatives before birth does not cause autism in children, according to US research.

Autism diagnoses have increased significantly during the last two decades in the US, coinciding with the addition of five vaccines, each containing ethylmercury, into the immunisation schedule.

But the researchers found, in a study of 214 mothers who were exposed to Rh immune globulin preserved with mercury-containing thimerosal, that there was no increased risk of developing childhood autism.
