It's time to get involved in LMC representation

06-Jun-08

Your story, 'Rift fears for partners and salaried GPs', which featured the results of our diversity report was useful but only featured some of the issues (GP, 23 May).

In London we are determined to address solutions in terms of LMC representation. It's LMC election year and our 'Make your voice heard' campaign is encouraging all GPs, irrespective of their sex, age, race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation or contractual status to get informed, get involved and get taken seriously. Only by tackling difficult issues head on can we ensure LMCs continue to attract new blood.

Never before have LMCs and their constituents needed to act as urgently as now. The future of modern general practice depends upon it.

Dr Stewart M Drage, joint chief executive, Londonwide LMCs.
