Scottish support for Counterweight

16-Jun-08

The Counterweight project team would like to thank you for your recent article (IN, 5 May).

We would like to clarify the continuing process of making the Counterweight programme available to more areas. As implied in the article, the Scottish government has been extremely supportive of this programme of weight management, with funding to make Counterweight available to all health board areas.

In England, there has been no national roll out of Counterweight, but an ongoing process of PCTs adopting and funding it individually.

We would also like to clarify that the support for patients takes the form of nine sessions a year, with the first six taking place twice a month as opposed to twice a week as quoted.
