GPs should pay us what we are worth

16-Jun-08

I am writing in response to a letter in your last issue (IN, 2 June). I also feel strongly about how practice nurses are treated and paid. I have taken extra courses and the nurse prescribing qualification, but the GPs I work for have not offered me more money.

Our nurses help the practice do well financially from the QOF but we never see a bonus and are not offered any financial reward for this - our pay is almost the same as before the QOF came in. I agree we need to ensure our voices are heard. GPs should pay us what we are worth.
