Enterprise Awards

Share your ideas in the Enterprise Awards 2009
There is a long tradition of innovation in grassroots general practice but rarely have GPs been able to quickly take on board and replicate the ideas of colleagues from around the UK.

That’s why the Enterprise Awards have been seen as such an important initiative for primary care.

GP newspaper and the RCGP wanted to create an awards scheme which was simple to enter and would showcase new ways of working that were easily replicable by other practices.

And this year we are delighted to welcome the Medical Defence Union as supporter of the awards, an organisation associated with high quality medical practice since 1885.

As you know, these awards are not just for the privileged few. The only work involved is telling us, in less than 500 words, what you did, why you did it and what you achieved.

Just ask yourself whether your ideas are replicable. If the answer is yes, then we want to hear from you. And so does the rest of the profession.

Why your practice should enter
Firstly there is the obvious kudos of winning a prestigious national award, regulated by the RCGP. The publicity, both local and national, will be a major morale boost for your team, and just think how well it would go down with potential partners and patients.

If you win, your scheme will be published online as part of a new database of simple guides to improving general practice.

There will also be a commemorative wall plaque for your surgery, which means every patient will be reminded of your success for years to come.

Last, but not least, there is the small matter of £4,000 in prize money for the practice if you win the overall prize.

All of this, plus a celebratory dinner for your whole practice team, at the local venue of your choice. So what are you waiting for? Good luck!
